One_day_i_wrote_her_name_upon_the_strand

“One Day I Wrote Her Name upon the Strand” by Edmund Spenser is a sonnet about a man who vainly tries to write his lover’s name in the sand at a beach, only to see it wiped away by the tide. He then realizes that his name will be wiped out as well, eventually (alluding to death). However, the man goes on to realize that his lover’s virtues shall last forever in fame (perhaps via this poem, of sorts) and that even in death, their love will live and later be renewed. “One Day I Wrote Her Name upon the Strand” is a good poem about the powerful feelings of love and fearing not death as the end of love.
