John Steinbeck And Of Mice And Man

John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men is nothing short of magnificent. The book is
about two men that travel together looking for work. The plot centers on George

Milton and Lennie Small, itinerant ranch hands who dream of one day owning a
small farm. George acts as a father figure to Lennie, who is large and mentally
retarded, calming him and helping to rein in his immense physical strength.

There are several obstacles the two face along their journey. When Lennie
accidentally kills the ranch owner's flirtatious daughter-in-law, George shoots
his friend rather than allow him to be captured by a mob that is after him. This
book portrays the trouble George's going through when having to watch out for

Lennie. In the end George takes Lennie out of his misery and he lives his life
worry free from that point on.
