In the year 2000, Al Gore lost the presidential election against George W. Bush, terminating his political career. A few years after his unsuccessful campaign, Al Gore came out with the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth.” For Dispatch readers who have not yet watched the documentary, the evidence from “An Inconvenient Truth” shows the intention of the film. The documentary is about the conditions of the environment and Al Gore informing the viewers of what is going on. Was this film Al Gore’s method for raising awareness on the deteriorating conditions of the environment, or his tactic to gain political popularity for another possible attempt at being president? Based on the contents of the documentary, Al Gore’s intention for making “An Inconvenient Truth” was to raise awareness on the conditions of our environment because it is evident that the environment is the main focus point of the movie, he demonstrates extensive knowledge on the subject, he does not attempt to convince people that he should be president, and the majority of his life was dedicated to our environment. Throughout the documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth,” Al Gore’s primary focus is about the weakening state of our environment. He provides visual images such as time-lapse photographs of the Earth that demonstrate the worsening environment.
